All works are 50x50 cm framed, either on canvas, packaging cardboard or carbon fibre reinforced polymer (FRP). These are small studies for the larger works.
The use of packaging cardboard as a medium interests the artist because when his family immigrated from Vietnam to Canada, his parents left a comfortable middle class life to work in a bubble gum packaging factory for 25+ years in Toronto in-order to support their three kids. The packing cardboard provided a conduit to their social economic progression.
The use of FRP and concrete relate to the artist’s technical background as a structural engineer; FRP is a prevalent material used in the repair of deficient structures.
